Sometimes, I wake up in the morning, and I just feel so blessed that I can't even believe it, you know? Like there was a surplus of blessing and whoooOOHoop, they ended up at me. I love my Heavenly Father. Now, there are pretty much bjillions of blessings in life, tiny, tiny perfect things all around me every day. But what I am thinking about today, is all the wonderful people in my life.
Sometimes, you're lucky enough to have a mommy who doesn't tell you to stop crying or stop laughing. She just does one or both of them with you, depending on the occasion. And she gives the best advice, and snuggles you, and gives you good back rubs, and says "jingle-whore" on accident when singing Jingle Bell Rock, and giggles like a six year old anytime you bring it up again. And she bakes you cookies, and teaches you to work hard, and listens to you about anything in the whole world. And she comes home from work ready to laugh at everything you say, which pretty much makes you feel like you are the Will Ferrel of your household. And she takes you to see the lights in Layton park driving home when you really don't have time, and she keeps you humble and close to Heavenly Father.
Sometimes, you get the best daddy in the whole world, who would be a brown bear if he was an animal (because picking people's inner animals is just about my favorite thing to do), because he acts so gruff, but inside he is the tenderest man to ever walk the face of the earth. And he understands you without having long talks, or being too personal, and you can call him crying and say one sentance of what you think, and he doesn't ask you questions or drag it out, he just hangs up and gets it done. And he makes you laugh and gives you overlong instructions about directions while you're driving because he loves to help you so much, and by the time he's done, you've been sitting at your destination for three minutes at least. And he gives you advice so the same mistakes don't happen again, and he makes your best friend feel like oh just everyone's car slides off the corner turning into our street (it kinda does, its just not a good turn in the snow. It's the sHlope.) and almost wraps his daughter's side of the car around a street pole, and that it is really not their fault. He just laughs and tells you about the secret times he's done it and not told mom and digs you out of the snow. (:
Other times, you have the best theatre teacher in the whole world, who gives you just the right script for just the right Spring play, right when you are going to need it. And she helps you with things on way snowy days when she has other stuff going on, and she makes you smile all the time, and makes you giggle and has dreams where you are sexually active... Bahahah. And she asks if you are okay, and basically keeps 27 weirdys mentally healthy every week.
And then there are those sisters. You know. The best ones in the universe? And one of them is tiny and beautiful and ever since you were little you kinda not so secretly wanted to be her when you grew up, but in the sixth grade you surpassed her height and hair color when she was in the NINTH grade, and you realized maybe you guys could just be best friends. And that worked out really well, actually. And she takes you to lunch, and shares her clothing (except pants, but only because of your praying-mantis like long-leggies.) and basically you can't go anywhere with her because she always knows EXACTLY what you are thinking, and it gets really hard, borderlining on retardedly hard, to keep a straight face. Sweet mercy! And she does your makeup and makes you look like a gosh dang supermodel even when your face probably looks more like a Pizza Hut worker (this is no shot at you if you work at pizza hut. Perhaps you have wonderful skin. I don't know.) And she hugs you and asks you how you are, and knows what you mean even if you are saying the opposite. I love her.
And the other one is tall, and blond, and leggy, and has short hair that you wish you could pull off. And she's out of this world brilliant, and she goes to Stanford! And she's chic and always looks put together, and she is the best spiritual example you've ever had. Cause even on sister sleepover nights, she whips out her scriptures and reads them, and kneels to pray, which taught you to do the same. And she knows every good movie, and every good quote, and also every song appropriate for any movie, and you kinda wish you were her, but you know you couldn't pull it off the way she can. And you love listening to her stories, and laughing about creepies and exchanging bad email stories and funny YouTube bideos. Also, you can communicate your day in a weird noise, or an I love you with a noise like MEEMER MEEMER! with some finger motions.
Also, sometimes, you're really blessed, and you have the most incredible friends that anyone has ever had. And you get to see them and hear from them, some more regularly than others, but with all of them, you know they love you and are here for you no matter where they are, whether it's Logan or Provo or just Fruit Heights or a few streets over.
Sometimes you have friends that were always like a big sister to you when you needed them. And they love you no matter what happens and they are your kindred spirit. And they love PB and Js too, and galoshes, and walks, especially in the rain. And they like creeping and laughing about creepers, and they went through two one acts with you and pretty much became your short haired, other half. And they make you smile everytime you see them, without fail. And they give good hugs, and drive you to rehearsals, and are the most wonderful people. Also, they have a tremendous testimony and you will always see them as a rock and also as a naughty fairy.
Sometimes you have friends that are ridiculously beautiful, and talented, AT EVERYTHING. And they are so nice, and they do everything they should. And you would seriously HATE them, except they are deep down just like you in humor and also in thought, it is just their execution is soo much better than you in holding it back. But also, you can make eye contact with them from across the room, and they know exactly what you are thinking. You can start a sentence and decide not to finish it because it's mean, but they will finish it in their heads - correctly, and laugh their heads off with you. And they make you a better person, and stay strong with you, and break down with you, and pretty much are your soulmate in female form (IT'S NOT WEIRD!). They are your breeeeast friend.
And also, sometimes you get a whole dang CLASS of people you love more than anything, and there's simply not enough time in the world, nor energy in your little fingers, to individually express your love for them. It just, is.
And then sometimes, I mean if you're really lucky, you get the best friend ever. The one who can make all the same faces as you, and do all the same voices as you, and pretty much can read your mind as soon as they meet your eyes. And they laugh at the right times, and they listen to you and remember every tiny thing you've ever mentioned, or even half said, or implied. And you never fight, you just disagree once in a blue moon, and then you get sad, and then you talk, and then you realize you thought the exact same thing all along, you just aren't very good at using your words. And they strengthen your testimony everday, and they make you happy, and they understand you like no one else. And they are patient with you, and they spend hours helping you with whatever, and talking in circles with you trying to explain math that you don't get. And they mean more to you than you know how to say, cause they are just so gosh darn perfect, perfect for best friending.
And you know that no matter where any of them go, it's not changing (:
Cause Heavenly Father has given them to you, and you are sooo lucky to have them, and if you live right, then he just keeps blessing you with more, who just pop outta nowhere and become your newest playmate!
I love today. And I love life.
quite lovely, my dear. we are all blessed to have you, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI love you. This made me cry. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes you have a student who is unique in every way possible. And the teacher secretly stalks her blog because she needs said student in her life everyday. ANd her posts about teachers picking on the special needs kids in class made me want to kick said teachers ass and this teacher loves unique student more and more every day.
ReplyDeleteThe end.
