However, sometimes people do things and I'm like... Wow, really? But I let it slide, because oh my WORD! Have I mentioned it was the first day of summer?! I'm thrilled out of my mind! My legs have a tan - well, as much as they can with this danged Utah weather - my hair is curled, my toes are naked, my legs are SHAVED, total first since... well, too long to remember, and I'm feeling GOOD. So maybe sometimes when people invite me places but walk away while I'm trying to talk to them, I let it slide. Because zippety-doo-da, friends, life is freaking GOOD. But then, it happens again. Luckily, there are friends around, and we can laugh about the fact that you, sir, are not listening to me. It is comical in its insensitivity.... But also. When it happens 23 times in like an hour long period? It sets a tone for the rest of the day.
So, unnamable person... I would like to say this to you, since I will never say it to you in person. You didn't make me mad, but you made me sad today. And I don't care that you are male and I am female(? It could go either way with the way I dress in the summer). This is not a gender thing, this is not an I-wanna-date-you-thing. This is a common courtesy, friends thing. As a general rule, it a neat token of friendship to listen when people speak. Seriously. So yes. You probably are weirded out at me, because I was absurdly quiet on the ride home. Yes. ME. Quiet. WEIRD.
But here's the thing. There are lots of people who would love to listen to what I have to say. And nothing I had to say to you was that important, but the point is... ANYONE else in that gosh dang Sam's Club would have let me say it to them, and listened. I don't talk when people aren't listening. I don't have to talk, because I don't need to, it's not some huge favor you would be doing me. It's just, common, courtesy.
And it's kinda your loss, homeslice, because honestly? Some of the stuff that comes out of my mouth is pretty funny, and worth listening to. I'm not demanding all your attention, I'm demanding ANY attention. It's what friends do. Yo, I've had a hamster that was a better listener than you are. (Holler, Hercules!) And also. When I'm not talking, I'm not able to get in funny moods where I do things like this:

Yeah... favor? Kinda a weird thing, I know, but just keep up... but listen when I speak, will you? It makes me feel pretty sad when you don't. Cause friends? They do. They just, do, buddy.
Buy a basket of manners or heaven help the woman who catches your eye someday.
SHEESH. I miss my best friend. Anyone up for roadtripping it to the Ukraine? I hear Toyatas can handle oceans okay.
