Goodbye.

I learned something yesterday in mission prep that I absolutely loved. We were talking about language, about how you use words daily and don't even think twice about them or where they come from.

Then my teacher shared that the word goodbye, is derived from the phrase, "God be with ye."
And in Spanish, when you say adios, it directly translates to mean, "To God."

So when you say goodbye to something, or someone - when you truly do - you wish it the highest form of happiness and peace.
No matter your religious beliefs or affiliations, you have to admit. That is kind of stunning.
Goodbyes have such a negative connotation sometimes. But when I learned the origin of the word, something in me just went like, Yep. That's it.
To me, goodbyes aren't seeya-nevers and they're not, you're-not-good-enough-to-be-in-my-life-so-get-outs. They're just changing seasons. And even if they break your heart, you have to know that if you have the strength to say goodbye, to really mean it, you have the love for that someone or that something to say, it's in God's hands. I want what is best for you, and He knows better than me. You give it to God.
And you set it free.
I LOVE that.

(P.s. Can we talk about the sunset tonight? UNREAL. I enjoyed it with good music and one of my favorite friends. Life is a good thing, you know?)
